POSITIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Dear Chesterfield Township Residents and Neighbors,


Since 2021, I have had the honor of being your Chesterfield Township Supervisor. I’ve attended many small business grand openings, welcomed family after family who now call Chesterfield Township their home, and, most importantly, gotten positive results for residents throughout the Township.

SENIOR SERVICES

  • New programs include pickleball education and wellness, East Coast swing and salsa dancing, and Lunch and Learns. 
  • Repaved the rear Senior Center Parking Lot at the Municipal Offices and built a new Senior Pavilion at the Senior Center. 

PUBLIC SAFETY, LIGHTS, AND PARTNERSHIPS

  • Increased staffing for Chesterfield Police Department.
  • Staffing & Equipment improvements for Chesterfield Fire Department.
  • In the planning stage for a new design for a New Fire Station.
  • Added 10 new LED lights and upgrade 7 street lights to LED lighting on Jefferson Ave between Cotton Road and Sutton Road
  • Installation of streetlight on 21 Mile Road and Briarfield. 
  • ·Brought installation of an overhead lighted crosswalk sign, and rapid flashing beacons with warning sign to the intersection of Jefferson and Hooker for residents to cross Jefferson safely.
  • Revised the verbiage and definitions within our ordinances which repealed the prohibition of dogs within the boundaries of Township Parks and banned controlled substances in Township Parks.  
  • Addition of 18 Teardrop light poles for new pedestrian path over I-94 at 23 mile in 2026
  • Addition of 60 lights along Gratiot from 23 mile to 25 mile no upfront cost to the Township
  • Addition of 22 lights on Donner from 23 mile to Cotton 
  • Partnered with the State of MI to open up a walking path at the MI Veteran’s Home for all residents to enjoy. 
  • Received a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant to acquire 60.64 acres of property for conservation and the development of township walking trails.

WATER INFASTRUCTURE

  • Reduced Water/Sewer expenses by over $240,000 by modernizing staffing and implementing recommendations by Plante Moran to rationalize purchases of equipment and systems.
  • Secured $5 million in the Governor’s budget to resolve needed repairs to the Chesterfield Interceptor which serves over 4,000 homes at no additional cost to our residents.
  • Crisis was avoided with the replacement of equipment at the Maurice DeMuynck Anchor Bay Pump Station by securing $4 million federal funding from Congresswoman McClain’s budget.
  • Partnered with Macomb County Drain Commissioner on a $100,000 maintenance match to maintain drains within Chesterfield Township.
  • Replacement of sanitary pump at Fairchild Sanitary Station
  • Approved replacement of Jefferson Water Main (2026)
  • Partnered with Macomb County Drain Commission 
  • Clean out 6 drains within Chesterfield Township

ROADS

  • Total reconstruction of North Bay Industrial Park, which includes North Bay Drive, Precision Drive, and Commerce Boulevard to retain and further attract major manufacturing industries and secured 40% funding from Macomb County Department of Roads. 
  • Total reconstruction of 23-mile road from the Canadian National Railroad crossing to M3/Gratiot Avenue. 
  • Sugarbush Road from 21 Mile to Cotton Road
  • Sugarbush Road, North of Rachid Lane to North of Sugar Creek Drive
  • Callens Road, from Sass Road to Kiely Drive 
  • Sass Road from 23 Mile to 24 Mile Road 
  • 24 Mile Road from Foster Road to Baker Road 
  • Chesterfield Road from 52000 Chesterfield Road to 24 Mile Road
  • Telstar Road 
  • Hooker Road 
  • Sugarbush Road from 21 Mile Road South to 
  • Continued County partnership for dust control and limestone/gravel for roads adding an additional mile 
  • New non-motorized path starting this fall: Jefferson Avenue from Sutton to the Meldrum Drain 
  • Partnered with Michigan Department of Transportation for: Gratiot Ave to M-29

CLEANING UP THE TOWNSHIP

  • Old DPW site, located on Gratiot, was decommissioned and demolished.
  • Cleaned up the appearance of the 23 Mile and I-94 corridor by partnering with MDOT to cut and maintain the grass more frequently with a long-term vision of signage to Township. 
  • Cleaned up the trash, blight, removed dilapidated fences, and phragmites on 23-mile road in front of Raleigh Place Condominiums.

PARKS AND RECREATION

  • Partnered with New Haven, Lenox Township, and Macomb County and secured a $45,000 grant for the Salt River Greenway Planning. This plan will create framework for the design and development of walking paths in our Township.
  • Brought an International Bass Tournament and Chesterfield Township’s first-ever fireworks show to Brandenburg Park. 
  • Added a paved path to the Veterans Memorial Wall to make sure our disabled veterans can safely traverse to enjoy the wall and pay their respects to fallen comrades. 
  • Partnered with the DNR to purchase Brandenburg Park which will allow Chesterfield Township to solely make all operational and maintenance decisions.
  • Brandenburg Park - replaced the boat launch, pier, replaced windows and doors at the building, installed concrete pads for benches, created a paved walkway, pickleball courtside pad, bike rack pad, barbeque foundation, and 6 ADA bench pads, and added sunshades at the splash pad.

TOWNSHIP FINANCIALS

  • Increased General Fund balance in all major Township accounts.
  • Reached agreements with 7 of 7 employee labor groups including incentives with wages and benefits making the Township an employer of choice including a highly competitive public safety package.
  • Presented a 2023 Balanced Budget. 
  • Increased the Township’s Bond rating from AA- to AA. 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Partnered with Anchor Bay School District to open the new Community Center with more improved Parks and Recreation programs at Sugarbush Elementary School.
  • Trained all employees on First Aid, Stop the Bleed, Emergency Management Response, Incident Command System, and Leadership Management. 
  • Brought a Resolution to the Township Board to stand up against pending State Legislation bills SB0549-0554 and HB5088-5093 which would increase residents' water bills.
